Donating Items

How do I contact the Project to donate an item?

Simply telephone us on 01664 410380, there is a 24/7 answer phone, so leave a meesage during our non-opening hours, and we will ring you back as soon as we can; or call in at our office when we are
open.

What items does the Project want?

Good quality furniture. This includes beds (single and double), sofas, chairs, dining chairs and tables, coffee tables, dressers, wardrobes, wall units, and so on.

For the items that we do not deal with, there is a website that might be able to help you, it is called Freeuse For Leicestershire.

Unfortunately due to statutory regulations it is not possible to accept soft furnishings without a CE label stating that the item is manufactured with fire retardant material after 1988.

Must items donated be of good quality?

Yes. The Project will refuse to take anything that is not suitable for re-distribution. The final decision is made by the driver/supervisor at the time of  the van visiting to make the collection.

Will the furniture be carried out of my house?

The volunteers are not allowed to carry items up or down stairs, items to be collected must be on the ground floor, and deliveries will only be made to a ground floor entrance.

Sorry, but we no longer take any item(s) that has been taken apart and "flat packed".

Small electrical goods are accepted and are tested prior to re-distribution. This now includes microwaves and microwave ovens.

The Project does not accept televisions & electric blankets because these items cannot be safety tested.

The Project does not accept fridges, freezers, gas fired heaters and cookers. These items need to be collected by arrangement with
Melton Borough Council, you can contact them on 01664 502502.

We will take ornaments, crockery, cutlery, baby equipment, toys, and other small items that someone may find useful when setting up a home on a limited income.
